Apert''s Syndrome - Genetic abnormality with noticable facial abnormalities fusion of hands and feet occuring in 1/65000 births

Conditions associated with Apert''s:

  • Abnormalities in trachial cartilage
  • Sleep apnea is common
  • Increased stridor
  • Markedly depressed nasal bridge

Cardiovascular problems occuring in 10% of cases

  • Choanal sstenosis atresia
  • Atrial septal defect
  • Patent Ductus Areriosus
  • Ventrical Septal Defect
  • Pulmonary stenosis
  • Overiding Aorta
  • Coarctation of aorta
  • Dextocardia
  • Tetrology of Fallot
  • Endocardial fibroelastosis

Respiratory problems occuring in 1.5% of cases:

  • Abnormal trachial cartiologe
  • Trachesophogeal fistula
  • Puluonary Apiasia
  • Absent Right Middle lobe of lung
  • Absent interlobular fissures
